A taxpayer may file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board for the following reasons:
  1. The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's real or personal property.
  2. The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications is denied:
    1. homestead exemption
    2. any other tax exemption as provided by Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
    3. any special use classification as provided by Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.

Instructions for Filing a Petition:

Your Value Adjustment Board petition may now be filed online from the convenience of your home or your local public library.  When you are ready to begin, click on 'Begin Filing a Petition Now'.  For step-by-step instructions, read the VAB Online Petition Filing Tutorial!

Please note that there is a $15 non-refundable petition filing fee.  Your petition is NOT CONSIDERED FILED until the appropriate filing fee has been received by the VAB Clerk. You may elect to pay by either MasterCard/Visa or personal check.  Please make checks payable to Orange County BCC and remit payment to: Value Adjustment Board, P.O. Box 38, Orlando, FL 32802-0038. 

PURSUANT TO SECTION 194.011 FLORIDA STATUTES, THE FILING DEADLINE FOR ALL 2009 PETITIONS AND FILING FEES HAS NOW PASSED.  ALL PETITIONS NOW FILED WITH THE VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD WILL BE REVIEWED FOR A DETERMINATION OF GOOD CAUSE FOR LATE FILING.  IN THE EVENT GOOD CAUSE HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED, A HEARING WILL BE SCHEDULED. 

Hearing Schedules:

A SCHEDULE OF APPEARANCES BEFORE SPECIAL MAGISTRATES WILL BE BASED UPON THOSE PETITIONS TIMELY FILED.  THE CLERK OF THE VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD SHALL NOTIFY EACH PETITIONER OF THE SCHEDULED TIME OF APPEARANCES NO LESS THAN 25 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DAY OF SUCH SCHEDULED APPEARANCE.
