A taxpayer may file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board for the following reasons:

The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's real or personal property.
The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications is denied:
1. homestead exemption
2. any other tax exemption as provided by Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
3. any special use classification as provided by Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.

ALL 2007 VALUATION PETITIONS AND FILING FEES ARE DUE AT THE OFFICE OF THE VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD BY THE SEPTEMBER 18, 2007 DEADLINE!

Instructions for Filing a Petition:

Select and complete the appropriate online petition for your needs and click submit. Once you have completed your petition you will be provided with a transaction number and a password. If you do not have an email address you may use the following address petition@occompt.com. Once you have your transaction number and password you may access this site at any time to track the status of your petition.

Important Payment Information:

Please remember that your petition is NOT CONSIDERED FILED until the appropriate filing fee has been received by the VAB. Please make your check payable to Orange County BCC and send to: Value Adjustment Board, P.O. Box 38, Orlando, FL 32802-0038.

The non-refundable petition filing fee is $15. The filing fee is per property and not per petition; however, you must submit a separate petition for each exemption requested. For example, if you are filing a petition for Homestead Exemption and Widow Exemption, you would need to submit 2 separate petitions but only 1 payment of $15.

*IF APPROPRIATE FEES ARE NOT PAID, THE PETITION SHALL BE DEEMED INVALID AND SHALL BE REJECTED.*
